What hotel for us and our guests?

Ok, here is what we are planning for next year..

We%26#39;ll be getting married at one of the Chapels next September... we were in vegas a couple months ago and stayed at Tropicana, we had a great time (was our first visit to Vegas), and Tropicana was fine for us, great rate ($59-79 a night) which is in our price range...

We%26#39;re not picky about hotels, as long as they are clean and in a good location, we don%26#39;t care for the fancy rooms etc....

our budget is $100 or less.... but we also have limits, as we won%26#39;t stay at Imperial, Hooters or Circus Circus.... Riveria and Stratosphere are just too far down the strip as well, so we%26#39;ll be leaving those out as well.

Pretty much every casino on the strip we are fine with, and we also have to think about our guests... we don%26#39;t want to make them pay an outrageous amount for a room, coming to Vegas for our wedding is already asking alot, so we want it to be affordable for everyone.

They are more than welcome to spend the bigger bucks and choose the hotel they deisre on their own if they want, but thats up to them.

I%26#39;m looking into getting a group rate for all of us perhaps, for a good rate under $100 a night, so which ones would you suggest?

BTW this will be during the week (Sun-Wed)....

Some of the hotels we had in mind were NYNY, Paris, Excalibur, and even Tropicana again..... We really liked the location of those hotels as well, and that end of the strip, bu there%26#39;s also Harrahs, Ballys, Flamingo...

so for our price range, what%26#39;s probably the nicest hotel of the hotels for under $100 a night? (on the strip, as I mentioned above, please don%26#39;t mention any downtown near Fremont)

I know there%26#39;s no easy answer or decsion, alot of factors, but i%26#39;m just getting a rough idea and consensus of what others would decide.

Thanks so much!

What hotel for us and our guests?

Skip the Trop. Otherwise I like most of the places on your list. Which will be in you price range in September? More likely Harrah%26#39;s, Ballys, Flamingo, and Excalibur and I would go with either Bally%26#39;s or Flamingo.

What hotel for us and our guests?

Don%26#39;t rule out Hooters, clean remodeled rooms with in room coffee and 12 noon checkout time, good location. I would stay there over Trop, every time

The upper tier of places that often go under $100 includes Monte Carlo, NYNY, Luxor,Ballys, Flamingo, Harrahs..check these first.

I think the best is MonteCarlo, but they%26#39;re all pretty good. If you like pools, MC, Flam,Luxor are best. At Ballys your guests would be mid strip, close to top quality buffets..Paris and Planet Hollywood, Bellagio. At MC, NYNY, Excal they could take the tram to Mandalay Bays great buffet

Next level of bargain places is Excalibur, Hooters, Imperial Palace, all with nice locations....list is in order of general cleanliness and pool area quality

when is this trip? Monte Carlo may work - also how many in the group? Keep in mind in LV a group rate isn%26#39;t always available for a small block of rooms.

If during a slow time and weekdays you might be able to get a nicer place for that $100.

I would call around and talk to the event staff (some places use different terminolgy - just tell the O what you want) if you get married at the hotel and pay for those services you may be able to get better room rates - so compare TOTAl costs, not just rooms, but ceremony, post-ceremony, transpo, etc and decide what works best for you.

besides monte Carlo maybe MGM if a promo is running.

Congrats

thanks for your replies...

the trip is next September, date not exact yet, but Sun-Wed.

As for Hooters... no thanks. I liked Tropicana way better.... Hooters casino was small and I didn%26#39;t like it at all, and being behind the Trop was kind of a pain to get to, where as the Tropicana we just walked right over to Excalibur/NYNY in minutes, using the overpass walkway.

The wedding is not at a hotel, it%26#39;s at a chapel, so can%26#39;t mix the costs in with that for a deal.....

And I think after emailing a few of the hotels, the group block has to be of at least 10 rooms or more.... that%26#39;s what most told me. Others said was too early and to call back after March for September rates.

I think I may look into Monte Carlo as well.... thanks for that suggestion. I thought maybe that was one of the more pricey hotels.

ok, i don%26#39;t usually revisit, i was curious as to dates.

know that september can be busy = pricey. if you have any flexibility and can make it august (check rate calendars to see what dates0 you may do better. by september with scholl back in session the business/convention travel picks up - so look at the calendars and pick dates when less busy

You%26#39;re not going to get Paris at less than $100/night at that time of year. I think Excalibur would suit your needs just fine, especially since you like the South Strip area.

Be aware though, unless you%26#39;re having a huge wedding, you need a lot more people to get a ';group rate'; at a giant Las Vegas hotel than you do for your local Howard Johnson%26#39;s. These hotels are used to booking convention groups that start at 200 people and go up from there.

I%26#39;d look into MGM Grand or Excalibur seeing as you prefer that end of the strip. MGM can have great room rates, especially if could be a little flexible with your dates and avoid conferences. The standard rooms compare very favourably with the Tropicana rooms. MGM has the best pool area on the strip, which may be a blessing in September.

If that%26#39;s a little pricey, I would consider Excalibur. It has a good atmosphere for your guests, and though others may disagree, I think they provide good value for money.

Good luck!
