can i cash personal checks for cash at las vegas?
cashing checks? Most likely, depending on your credit, different hotels use different systems - Telecheck, Casino VIP, and some others. You%26#39;ll have to fill out a credit app most likely. You would probably be best to do it where you%26#39;re staying.
Also be aware some go through instantly to your account.
cashing checks?I asked about this service when I last went to Vegas and I was told I could if I was a hotel guest.
Much easier to use an ATM then to go throght the hassle of cashing checks. There are ATMs everywhere!
At the Harrah%26#39;s properties they will cash a personal check up to $500.00 if you are staying there with no fee or hassle just need your picture ID and room #.
When in America i always use the ATM, so much easier.
Cashing cheques is such a hassle - and why waste presious Vegas time if you dont have too
sarahrox, this question is pretty much irrelevant for UK visitors unless they happened to have a US bank account for whatever reason. They wouldn%26#39;t be able to cash a personal check from a UK bank in a Vegas casino.
Harrah%26#39;s ATMs are now charging about $5 a transaction and I am sure a lot of other casinos ATMS will be headed up, too. My bank tacks on an extra $2 for a ';foreign'; ATM. I would rather keep that $7 and I don%26#39;t think that its more worth it if you are withdrawing a huge dollar amout. If you have a good established check writing history and your ID and check information jive, it won%26#39;t take long for a check to be approved. I would just check at the hotel you are staying at to make sure they don%26#39;t need a credit check. If they do, try to do it before your trip.
When I was at Caesars in October, I had no problems cashing checks there, except that they do limit the amount you can cash during a stay and I believe it is based on your level of play. Last year I cashed a check at the Trop (I think) and they used Telecheck. No hassle and quick. I also have the Casino VIP check cashing card, but have never needed it in Vegas.

Another thought, Leo mentioned withdrawing a large amount of cash. Some of the ATM%26#39;s limit your cash withdrawal per transaction to $500. If you want $1,000, you will pay twice the fees to access that amount. Also, some banks limit the amount of cash you can withdraw in a day. I think, under those circumstances, cashing a check is a very good idea.
Have you considered travelers checks? They are also a good alternative to your money management.
