Getting a Host

Alright, I just got my first comp offers in the mail and I also was comped 4 nights at harrahs in June. I am planning on at leat making Plat. this trip either in a day for in the course of the trip. If I made Plat. would that be enough for a host to contact or find me? Last trip played 1, 2, and 5, cent slots and 25 cent VP but for about 12 hours a day. With that we are getting tons of free room offers. Your expirence getting your first host would be great. This trip in June I will have a 5k budget for 4 days.

Never play with earning comps as a priority. Just play what you can afford and look at any comps or players card upgrades as a bonus.

Regarding hosts, call casino marketing at Harrah%26#39;s and ask them. If they feel you%26#39;re worthy of having a host it shouldn%26#39;t be a problem. A lot of the time hosts will seek out players they feel would benefit from their services. It%26#39;s part of their job to do so and find new clients.

Getting a Host

If they value your play enough, they will find you.

I have had hosts call my home and also just show up while playing. I have also had pit personnel call for a host after I requested a comped meal.

It does not hurt to call them though. You have nothing to lose. It also depends on the casino%26#39;s policies.

You will get plenty of mailers from HET so that you should not have to pay for a room, but HET is not known for generous comps on top of that. Games are also poor.

5K for 4 days does not guarantee comps by itself. For example, if you were to bet 5K on one hand of blackjack, I don%26#39;t think you would get anything comped. If you play like you posted and were able to run the same money through the machine over and over again with decent luck you would do o.k. One way to help your own cause is to learn the proper strategy on VP. Bob Dancer%26#39;s winpoker is great software to learn on at home. It has many different VP games and pay tables. I believe it costs about 30 bucks.

Simple answer: No, they probably won%26#39;t come looking for you. I don%26#39;t have a host at Harrah%26#39;s but the people I know who do have one had to demonstrate the ability to play at a desired level consistently over time. Most Diamonds don%26#39;t have hosts so acheiving a higher card level doesn%26#39;t trigger getting one. And frankly, they would rather assign hosts to people who earn the full boat pointwise than the folks who get there using the ';in a Day'; gimmick. A lot of those people don%26#39;t give the same action on future trips.

I do think that if 12 hour gaming sessions are your norm, you should be able to use a host in a lot of casinos. However, you should initiate the relationship instead of waiting for them to come to you.

Thanks for your replys. I do not planning on chasing comps. I just know that when we are there I will be playing at least 12 hours a day. Figuring in how one get the tier credits and my length of play and avg money put through I think that it would be close to get the pal in a day. I never chase, but I do plan on spending one day just playing at harrahs properties.

My sister and I stayed at the Flamingo this year and on her 1st night got a $2,500 jackpot which she gambled over our 2 week stay and I lost another $1,200. By the end of out holiday we had well exceeded the tier level to get a Platinum Card. So if you have a $5,000 budget you should make it easily.

I would point out that I have never received any offers from Harrah%26#39;s, possible because I live abroad but you think they could e mail me something. However, when I checked their Reservations section and put in my Total Rewards number, I found that I can get 10 comped days over a 17 day period next September and the other days are about half price.

So it pays to check their site and don%26#39;t wait for their offers.

gingerscot, as the original poster is familiar with what points are required to progress up the Total Rewards ladder, I%26#39;m sure they%26#39;re aware of checking the websites of Harrah%26#39;s properties for possible comps in addition to mailed offers.

The question is specifically regarding hosts and how to get one, a totally different situation to purely getting room offers and comps.

Bates911, if you want the best result, I wouldn%26#39;t casino hop too much between Harrah%26#39;s properties. Everytime you start playing in a new Total Rewards casino during a gaming day, it%26#39;s treated as a new casino visit. If you earn 2000 points in four casinos, they will treat you as if you average 500 points in a gaming session. If you earn the 2000 points in one casino, they will treat you as you average 2000 points in a gaming session. The difference in marketing offers would be significant.

I know it would be tough doing 12 hours in one casino but the less switching you do, the better off you would be and the more attractive you would be to a host.

Wow thanks leo I didn%26#39;t relize that going to a different casino even if it is another harrahs casino would be looked at sepertly. Thanks so much for that info.
