Is early July going to be too hot?

I am planning my next trip to Vegas and have early July in mind as hotels are supposed to be cheaper then and that it will definitely be hot enough to swim (this is a must for me).

I know that no two years are the same and weather is always unpredictable but generally speaking is early July going to be unbearably too hot to walk around the strip during the day?

Is early July going to be too hot?

Depends on what you can handle. I have been in August and June and was able to walk around, in spite of the heat. Just make sure you have lots of water with you.

Is early July going to be too hot?

You can expect temps to be over 100- at times it has been 106/107. It will definitely be swimming weather- that you can count on. Some people find the summer months too hot while others don%26#39;t feel that way. I usually go during the summer and for me it isn%26#39;t bad. You do have to be prepared- bring plenty of suntan lotion, sunglasses and a hat. It is best to do your major walking in the evening when it does get somewhat cooler. If you do walk during the day you can always stop in the casinos for a quick fix of A/C and a cool drink. Or keep buying water. You have to walk at a slower pace. In August I walked from Bally%26#39;s to the Riviera and I had no problems- I did stop at the Wynn. Yes, it is going to be very hot but I find it doable.

We were in Las Vegas twice, and two times in July. Yes, it can get VERy hot, but we never really suffered from it. As already mentioned, places enough to cool down a bit, and IMOH, if you%26#39;re healthy, you won%26#39;t have any problems at all. We walked a lot and had no problems at all. Don%26#39;t forget that it%26#39;s a very dry heat, which doesn%26#39;t give you that uncomfortably humid tropical feeling.

I loved it there and I liked the idea to be 100% sure of ';swimming pool weather';...

Avoid the fourth of July but otherwise July is a good time to go. 2 years ago I was there July 17-22 and it was about 115- super hot but somehow it didn%26#39;t bother us. We returned in July this year and it wasn%26#39;t as hot but still got over 100. I don%26#39;t hang at the pool though- definately have sunscreen and be prepared for it to be very crowded at the pool and be prepared to see a lot of kiddos.

Well, it is in the middle of the desert! :)

Since this isn%26#39;t your first trip, how much general walking-around-the-strip are you going to actually want to do?

July is a good time to hang out by the pool, but even that can become miserable in mid-afternoon.

Consider taking your walks early in the morning if you can, like 7:00 or so if you%26#39;re an early riser. And don%26#39;t plan on walking around between Noon and 6:00, it%26#39;s usually just too freakin%26#39; hot.

I%26#39;ve been to Vegas in July a few times and have had a great time. The only things we avoid doing on summer trips are real outdoor stuff like hiking around Valley of Fire or Red Rock Canyon. It gets hot walking the strip but there are lots of misters and casinos to stop in, and I don%26#39;t really need to have an excuse to do that anyway!

Also- I%26#39;ve been there on July 4th and have no idea why someone would recommend avoiding that day. We%26#39;ve gotten good rates and enjoyed a really impressive fireworks display at Caesars, though I understand that must have been a special year.

I suggested avoiding fourth of July due to it falling on a Friday in 2008, which means a 3 day weekend for many US workers. The OP has stated that they are choosing July with expectation of the rates being cheaper. Obviously it%26#39;s too soon to tell what rates will be that far ahead but if a US holiday weekend can be avoided I believe the OP will have a better chance of getting the desired rates and avoiding overly crowded pools.

Yes, it will be hot, but as has been said, it is a dry heat. We are from NY and frankly the temp in Vegas in July and August doesn%26#39;t feel as bad as NY because of the low humidity. It is hot though but we did walk through the Valley of Fire and it was 112 degrees!! On the strip you will be fine, just drink a lot! We always had a bottle of water with us and did fine. At the pools, you might want to find some shade.

It is very hot..and you are not used to it..so if you go be very careful...lots of water and resting if you are walking. I go every July and Sept...but we are used to somewhat hot weather in so california...best wishes to you..If you are careful you will be fine..Slotto

Many thanks to all for sharing your experience and suggestions. The reason why I am thinking of going in July is that I am travelling with a teacher and he cannot get away before then.

I think we will be ok with the dry heat and yes we have seen 90% of the strip already so I will be doing just limited walking during the day. I will try to avoid the 4th July weekend.
