Preliminary Trip Report.

The trip went well.

The Western and Atomic are still hopping

East Fremont is much improved with bike security up to 8th Street, then it was about the same.

Arrived late on Thursday night.

Took the 109 CAT bus from the airport, no problems there.

It took maybe an hour but that is also typical of the more expensive shuttles.

I will take it or the 108 CAT bus again.

Used the 24 hour bus card that cost $2.50 the next day as well.

The Pavilion Rooms at the El Cortez were all full so they put me in a nice 10th floor tower room, some 500 square feet, with a view north.

I did look the Pavilion rooms over and they look fine to me.

Explored North Las Vegas via the 113 CAT bus on Friday.

Passed the old Mormon Fort and the neon bone yard.

The casinos were very similar to Downtown.

They had some full pay video poker machines.

Opera House, Jerry%26#39;s Nugget and the Silver Niugget were all ok but not really worth the bother of getting out there when you find the same stuff on Fremont.

The area did not look all that bad by day.

Hung out under the canopy the at the Western etc. with Lenny 63 that night.

Visited Sam%26#39;s Town, via the free shuttle from the Fremont/California on Saturday, it was interesting, kind of felt like a mall with a casino in it.

The formal event that night went well.

Then I screwed up, instead of getting out into the fresh air, I just hung out at the usual places on East Fremont on Sunday.

That was a mistake, since after a while all the smoke got my allergies going big time and put me out of commission for a while.

Caught the El Cortez%26#39; free shuttle and flew back on Monday afternoon.

Got back safely, flight was delayed, in bed at 2:00 am and up for work at 6:00 so I am not exactly perky today.

Look for a complete trip report after Thanksgiving.

Preliminary Trip Report.

Oh Chitown...thanks for letting us know you made it back ok! I had already heard that the Informal/Formal (or was it the Formal/Informal) was a SUCCESS!!!!!

I am glad to see your comments about the rooms at the El Co since it is on our list of hotels to try and intend to do that maybe when we go out for the MEGA next June!

Agree with your comments about the North LV casinos, and it is probably more fun to just stay in the downtown area. Get rested and glad you had a good time!

Preliminary Trip Report.

Just so you know Chitown...I was pretty tight lipped regarding the informal formal...so they are all waiting for a TR from you guys....lol.

Had a great time...and it was good to see you as always.....

looking forward to June.

TopekaDucky

I insisted that Lenny 63 and his daughter have their first slushie from La Bayou in your honor.

Formal event in a nut shell.

Started at Hugo’s Cellar at the 4 Queens

Off to the Gold Spike

Then the El Cortez and a comparison of my tower room and REH’s vintage rooms

Then the Atomic before they closed for the night.

Then the Western, where Lenny 63 cleaned up on Roulette

Then the intimate Downtown Cocktail Bar.

Then Binion’s, only to be told that the Speakeasy had closed down but we found Boomers.

It was getting late and we sort of went off our separate ways after that.

Sordid details to follow.

Why thank you, sir! I always feel like I%26#39;ve been to Vegas with the others on the forum when they have a slushy in my honor :)

I did not know the El Co had a free shuttle. Thanks for sharing as I have asked for a tower room on December 2nd.

It is mostly a morning shuttle to the airport.

They may pickup as well..

A minivan that has El Cortez written on it.

The last one to the airport was at 2:00 pm.

Thanks, Chitown, for the lowdown on those off strip venues. It%26#39;s always good to know what%26#39;s good and what%26#39;s not worth the bother.

...I share the allergies situation...glad you got back and hope you get some rest. Have a great Thanksgiving.

The El co shuttle has limited hours of service. Check with them in advance if you are considering using it to see if it fits your schedule. Made it back to Atlanta this morning around 7:30AM after my red eye flight from Vegas. Came straight from the airport to work where I am now. ugh. Drinking all day Monday sounded like a good idea then, so I could sleep on the plane and all. In hindsight..... ummm... not so much of a good idea afterall. Thanks for the good times during tuxapalooza Saturday night. that was good fun.

reh....glad you made it back o.k....great to meet you....and I have to appolgize for bowing out early....1.a.m. was late enogh for me, having to work on Sunday...and I had more than my share to drink.....checked the news on Sunday, and I guess I failed to drink Scotland out of business.lol
