Accommodation enquiry: Bonneville Speed Week 2008

Hi, all.

Just wondering if anyone can offer some advice: I%26#39;m really hoping to come to Wendover for Speed Week 2008 (coming from London, England) but I%26#39;m having difficulty finding suitable accommodation.

I wanted to come over this year, but struggled to find a place to stay, so thought I%26#39;d put it off and then try early to make a booking for 2008. But the casinos look to be booked out already, the KOA campsite has very few spaces, and I don%26#39;t fancy driving from Salt Lake city (or somewhere a similar distance away) every day. Plus I want to be around Wendover for the evening entertainment. I%26#39;ve considered the camper/RV option, but it does look expensive.

Does anyone offer %26#39;home stays%26#39; or similar? There will be my wife and I, plus one (maybe two) friends too.

Any advice greatly appreciated! Looking forward to hearing from you, and hoping to see you for Speed Week 2008!

Dear Saltfan, I don%26#39;t know if there are any Wendoverites actually on this board, so I%26#39;m not sure about homestays.

Wells, Nevada is about 40 miles from Wendover, a bit closer than Salt Lake. I have also heard that there are some new hotel/casinos being built in Wendover and they may be open by 2008. If I hear any more news I%26#39;ll post it on this board.

While renting an RV would be expensive, that might be a workable option.

Like I say, if I hear anything at all, I%26#39;ll post it here.

Hi, all. Thanks for your helpful suggestions. I%26#39;m still trying to work out what to do. Dates for Speed Week 2008 are August 18-22 or so - it%26#39;s the third full week of August. Again, any ideas appreciated. It%26#39;s looking more and more likely that an RV will be the way to do it.
