Yet another Helicopter question thread!..

Hello all,

Planning our first trip to Vegas for next June and obviously would love to include a trip to the Grand Canyon incorporating plane, bus and helicopter (South Rim, have been reading the theads!), and am torn between either the Scenic Grand Canyon Odyssey Tour and the Papillon Grand Canyon Deluxe with Helicopter Tour. Now, on the face of it, these tours seem pretty similar in terms of what they include. One difference is the price (Scenic is $40 more) and the other is the time of the tour - Scenic is 8 1/2 hours and Papillon is indicating 10 hours - does anyone have any idea why this might be? Is it something to do with the departure airports? (Scenic leaves from Scenic Airlines Terminal, Papillon from Boulder City Airport).

Thanks for any advice! :-)

Yet another Helicopter question thread!..

Anyone?...

Yet another Helicopter question thread!..

No idea why the difference in price as the tour components are pretty much the same. Both fly from Boulder City airport to GC airport. Papillon may be including pickup and return time in LV. Both are recommended tour providers.

The reason, I believe, is Scenic flies out of North Las Vegas airport which is farther from GC than Papillon which flies out from closer airport (Boulder City Airport).

The other factor you might consider is the frequencies of flights. I dont know if one offers more flights than the other.

I%26#39;ve used Scenics before a few times, was happy with it (safety records).

My apology, I havent flown with them for awhile, didnt realize Scenic now also flies out of Boulder City when I checked on their website.

When I flew with them before, it was always North Las Vegas. Not sure if they fly out there anymore.

Not positive of the details but:

Scenic = airplane. Land at the canyon airport and go from there.

Papillion = helicopter. Fly down into the canyon. Maybe land in the canyon and have lunch at the ranch?

If Papillion is flying into the canyon and you are having lunch at the ranch at the bottom of the canyon that sounds like the better deal.

the ranch at the bottom of the canyon?.....what are you talking about.....?...lol
