Planet Hollywood disapointments

I have been working a couple of night shifts for a friend of mine who manages a store within the ';Miricle Mile Shos'; (formally Desert Passage), and last night we decided to have a little ';Thanksgiving Cheer';afterwards... but had to decide where to go to have a drink.

Ernie, says to me...';well lets just do Planet Hollywood....it%26#39;s right here';

We wandered thru the maze....grapping a couple of machines on the North West side of the casino, next to the new piano lounge (the piano player was horrible....and my ears are still bleeding from her singing.....the dead artists she did, were spinning in their graves...and the ones who are alive wish they WERE dead).

20 minutes....and no cocktail waitress.

we see her, and she says she%26#39;s dropping off....and will be back (Christmas I assume)

15 minutes later she returns to take our order.

wait untill just after Easter....(15 more minutes).

and she finally gets back to us, and she forgot my drink.

we moved around a few times to different sections, but really had slow service everywhere. maybe they had a lot of CW%26#39;s off for the holiday (Thanksgiving)....but someone from out of the country, who may not take that into consideration could give the casino poor reviews based on coctail service. I know I would. an hour for a drink is too long.....

Planet Hollywood disapointments

Gee Spike that%26#39;s ugly!! I agree that that would result in some negative blasts from out-of-towners.

Maybe next time throw yourself on the floor and crawl towards the bar whispering ';scotch, scotch, please save this dying man';. LOL

Don%26#39;t you think the lack of CW%26#39;s is due to the piano player?

Planet Hollywood disapointments

Some things never change I guess.

I stayed there in %26#39;05 and had the same problem at the 21 table. I even spoke to the pit boss about it and all he could do is shrug his shoulders, apologize and tell me it was an ongoing problem. Sooo we got up, cashed out and caught the next cab Downtown. We never gambled there again in a 4 night stay. The bar service was great though.

We stopped at PH on the way back from the M%26amp;G last June. After wondering around we found a couple VP machines that were pretty much in the direct path of the cocktail waitresses. They all paraded past us on their way to and from the bar. We could NOT get a drink to save our lives. We did everyone but stick out feet out to trip them.

When someone finally stopped ignoring our ';excuse me';%26#39;s..it took another 20 minutes for our drink to come. It almost seemed intentional - that%26#39;s how strange it was.

Too bad, because it definitely had an impact on how we felt about the place as a whole.

never thought about that 2b.... maybe the piano player was causing waitresses to be arrested for failing to resist the urge to choke her. She just couldn%26#39;t carry a tune in a paper bag.

Wondered all night who she had to pay to get the job. We stopped by the sportsbook on the way out, and there was a band there that was pretty good. listened to 2 songs before we left.

Doc...had I had the time to shoot down to El Co...and grab a drink there....I would have. plus not only do I know 2 of the piano players at the El Cortez, they are great at plying their trade.

I had to feel bad for her though....maybe she was really sick, and this was her dying wish, or something. It%26#39;s the only reason I could see that they would let her play there.

Interesting, and I thought it was just me and my low roller status. I could have died of dehydration waiting for a drink when we stayed there. I actually thought I had a sign on me that said ';don%26#39;t bother me';.

That Casino has always been POORLY MANAGED.

I should also mention that the dealers there were/ are(?) hit and miss. I had one older asian lady who ranks as on of the best dealers I%26#39;ve had the pleasure to do business with and an old white guy who acted like he was doing the players a favor by being there. I even tipped the guy a couple times thinking surely that would make him smile. No dice. (pun intended) Now keep in mind I am a grumpy young white guy so I understand, but this guy was just plain dead.

BTW, loved the hotel and staff, but the casino has a pressure difference BIG TIME. (if ya know what I mean)

Doc....you would love the dealers now...they are not hired on their skills....but instead (looking at their new outfits) for their ';assets';.

Well since the grumpy guy didn%26#39;t have any assets (none I%26#39;d want to see anyway) maybe he%26#39;s gone. I do want to dip in there sometime just to see the new decor so dealers with assets is a plus.

Spike3X: Have stayed at the Aladdin 5 times, the last visit being 4/07 ( the official name change week ) . Planet Dailies was a poorly managed, overpriced fiasco as compared to Zanzibar Cafe. We were implored to trade in our player%26#39;s cards for A List Planet Hollywood cards. Upon surrender my friend was demoted from so-called gold status to regular card holder. At check out , we were only thrown a comp on our one buffet visit, while on previous visits we had had all food comped. Before you ask , we gambled the same if not more at the casino as on visits previously. We still were always happy with the location and the variety of slots, so 3 weeks after we got back, we decided to give them another chance. Called our host and she said she would get back to us in 15 minutes ( it sounded like she was in the car with her kids ). Well 6 months later we%26#39;re still waiting for her to call back. We booked at Ballys , had a great time and are booked again at Ballys for April ( all 5 nights comped ). The irony is, we are still getting mailing offers from PH, including one last week for 12/29 thru 12/31 comped. Apparently they are not doing that well if they want to comp penny slot players for New Years lol. They want to be like the Palms or Hard Rock but in my opinion, are going about it ALL WRONG! Last months stay at Ballys upgraded us to Platinum, so everywhere but Caesars is basically comp for the week that we%26#39;re going. The only things PH has going for it now is the 24 hour Starbucks and the 2 ABC stores in Miracle Mile. We walked through on a Wednesday afternoon while we were there in October, and the casino was EMPTY! We walked back to Ballys and the place was jamming as it was the entire 5 days we stayed there. Starting to rant , so will call it a night lol.
