UK Hand luggage

Hi, does anyone know whether you are allowed to take a laptop case as hand luggage?

UK Hand luggage

yes

UK Hand luggage

Are you talking about taking it as hand luggage from the UK to the US? If so, it would be the only hand luggage you are allowed and that applies even if you are just transiting through the UK to the US, one piece of hand luggage is all anyone is allowed period.

Yes one piece only from UK, we had to get special clearnce for my (then) bride to take her wedding dress and handbag in the cabin they are very strict on this.

You need to check the size of the bag you are carrying on the plane. The airline you are using will tell you whats allowed. The airlines are very strict on this and if it exceeds their size limit you will have to check it in.

Hi

I heard on the news that UK are going to lift the one piece hand luggage rule but I do not know the date.

Clive

No the rule that they lifted was allowing more than a small carrier bag. The airports actually love this rule (as do I) as it makes clearing security really quick, it also means less suecurity guards are needed which means more profit for BAA they wont drop it at least not for economy and prem economy passengers

Yes they are lifting the one piece of hand baggage rule from the UK. I think the date is 7 or 8 January. From that date, airports are able to seek permission from the Department for Transport which would allow passengers to carry two pieces of hand luggage instead of one. It is possible that some airports may not seek or may not be granted permission, if they do not have the necessary screening measures and staff levels in place to cope with additional baggage checks.
