never made a sport bet at a casino before so i was just wondering if it makes any difference which casino to use. any recommendations or suggestions? thanks to all who reply..

The spreads and odds at the major hotel groups (Harrah%26#39;s, MGM/Mirage, Boyd, etc.) will differ slightly, but I find the difference isn%26#39;t necessarily significant unless you are talking about futures betting - who will win the next World Cup or Super Bowl, for example.

My recommendation would be to visit a sports book from each hotel chain and check out the odds they are offering on the sports that interest you and decide for yourself. For futures betting, I have found the best odds at the Boyd casinos and some of the smaller downtown casinos.

it really depends on what kinda gambler u are if your a big player u wanna shop around for the best line if u just wanna throw a couple of bucks on the game and sit there and watch it id go for one of the nice ones like belligio ceasars

My husband and I will be in Vegas in 3 weeks. We would like to eat at Lawry%26#39;s Prime Rib. We will be staying at Bally%26#39;s. Will we be able to walk to the restaurant or will we need a cab? Also, will Bally%26#39;s hot tub be open? Thanks for your help.

Lawrys is within a mile, so it depends on your shoes, energy level, and weather. Walk there, cab it back when stuffed

Contact Ballys dirrectly for pool area hours, but either way, it will be too cool weatherwise, to put you in the mood for hot tub. Have a DRY robe with you for returning to the room if you do it

To me, there is a difference between walking to a place like Ellis Island (which is on the way btw) for a $7 steak special and walking to Lawry%26#39;s for a nice meal. If it were me, I%26#39;d take a cab. Cost will be in the $10 or less range each way. Here is a map that shows the streets and location.

I%26#39;m not sure about the jacuzzi situation, but the highs will probably be in the low to mid 60%26#39;s so consider that before jumping in.

Doc%26#39;s right, the day temps are on the low side (compared to summer) but the sun can feel nice and warm. the winds can chill, though, especially at night. I just got back and the highs were in the 60%26#39;s and nights were near freezing. There was a jacuzzi where I was staying but I preferred to soak in the bathtub, especially after getting my feet into the Colorado when kayaking! (water temp was about 50).

As for walking, well, if you%26#39;re like me( I LOVE walking), a walk to the restaurant might be nice if you like walks. But on the way back, a cab is likely a better bet.

In the past, this has meant the entire area, including the hot tubs, was off limits. You can go to Paris%26#39; hot tub.

I have used a Jacuzzi in the winter and it can be a challenge- getting in and staying in- no problem. The problem- getting out, drying off, getting dressed and getting back into the hotel without turning into an ice cube if the temps are low enough! Sometimes just sunbathing is enough. Even then- if it is windy (and Vegas can get mighty windy) you might not even want to do that.

waltrip is correct. The Bally%26#39;s pool is closed until 2008. I was just there. You cna use the facilities at Paris, I walked over there one day when it kinda warm (76 degrees) but only saw about 6 people hanging out. So I don%26#39;t think it would be warm enough even for a dip in the hot tub, can be very cold when getting out.

Gamblin Bill's vs Flamingo

Need some help please. I am taking my son to LV 12/26 to celebrate his first career job post college. We have the Flamingo as part of a package BUT after reading the reviews I am wondering if I should instead reserve a room at Bill%26#39;s Gamblin? I can get a $75 per night and wonder if we should do this instead.

All hotels get bad reviews, even the top end properties like Wynn and Bellagio. Just remember that the 5% of guests who%26#39;ve had a bad experience are far more likely to post a review than the 95% who are completely satisfied.

I%26#39;m a fan of Bill%26#39;s but you%26#39;ll be absolutely fine at the Flamingo.

I agree with Blagger, it%26#39;s probably a ';either one'; situation. II haven%26#39;t stayed at either place, but neither property is upscale so unless you guys need your hands held, you should be fine where you are.

I happen to like the vibe of the Flamingo casino... always have.

We%26#39;ve stayed at both. Mostly at the Flamingo as my wife and daughter like the pool area. The older rooms are OK but stay in the newer GO rooms if you can. They are pretty cool and our room last July was a big hit with my 18 year old daughter. We%26#39;ve never had any problems during our stays. Not big fans of their buffet any more because it seems to have dropped in quality. The cafe is alright for breakfast. Never cared for their casino; it doesn%26#39;t have much character. Best thing about the Flamingo is location.

Bills is next door and I am a fan. We really liked the room we stayed in. It%26#39;s a small joint and the distance from desk to elevator to rooms is minimal. Casino usually lively although there are lots of loud and well %26#39;lubed%26#39; 20 somethings. The Victorian Room is just so-so, but you are close to many places to chow down, including the world famous Ellis Island about a 10 minute walk away.

The Go rooms are twice the price as Bills. I know what I would do with the money saved by staying at Bills. Eat well!

I have never stayed at Bills, so I can only give you our opinion of the Flamingo.... we did not pay the extra $ to stay in a go room but our room on the 15th floor, dont believe it was a standard room but was considered a deluxe was great.... incredible housekeeping, room was spotless throughout.. would definately recommend... and this was coming the night before from Bellagio..

They are both fine, but I would give the edge to Flamingo due to location and the casino has a better and fun vibe. The rooms are fine there and always clean. The rooms have window from floor to ceiling which is very nice for a view, We had a view of CP and Bellagio fountains.at Flamingo.

Have a great time in whatever you decide !!!!!!

makua, do not stress, you%26#39;ll be fine. I%26#39;ve stayed at the Flamingo many times and it is a great combo of old and new as it as morphed over the years.

Yes, and if you%26#39;ve still got a cup you%26#39;ve bought on a previous trip you can take it with you and use it. No need to buy a new cup for each new trip.

Sorry for my ignorance but I am staying at the Bellagio in January and am wondering what does Palio fill the mug with? Coffee?

zmjmom - from what I have gleaned from this board, you can fill it with coffee, tea or soda from the machines at certain sites throughout the Bellagio. I was so glad to learn of this, it will sure save a lot of money! Looking forward to getting that mug!

I believe you can also get the mug from Cafe Gelato at Bellagio.

What other sites can you get refills at? Last time I was there, on the last day I was told I couldn%26#39;t get tea, only coffee. What are the rules?

I was told that it was regular coffee, soft drinks and iced tea.

Coffee and iced tea sound great to me!! We are thrilled to hear about this and are also looking forward to getting my mug!

Just a heads up make sure you get the ';plastic'; refillable forever mug for $5.95. I sent Hubby down the first day and he came back with a styrofoam type cup which ended up to be refillable for only the day (there%26#39;s a reason he only shops at the hardware stores LOL)

I just ordered this coupon booklet today for my Dec. 23- 6 day trip. Did anyone here find it useful. The booklet seems to have many good categories and deals like 2 for 1 hotel stay, 2 for 1 buffet, etc. I paid $37. Big savings that would help our family.

2007 Pocketbook of Values- Las Vegas Advisor

One of the forum posters was kind enough to send me her POV coupon book because she would no longer need it for this year. I was surprised at the great deals they have. I get the American Casino Guide which has some pretty good coupons but I like the POV better especially the buffet and match play coupons and the BOGO for Main Street Station. Since I go to Vegas fairly often, I think I will be subscribing to the POV from now on. Well worth the $37.

I stayed on the strip and may have used two coupons from POV. We didnt make it to Palms which has the 50% coupon. I did get a few tips from the Las Vegas Advisor forum.

I did use several of the American Casino Guide coupons and saved a great deal. Paid for that coupon book and more.

LVA is a great deal. You might find it difficult to use the coupons to best advantage so close to the end of the year. Many expire before the 31st. And as somebody has already mentioned, the boards will often give you better deals than the actual coupons.

I presume you%26#39;ll be picking it up when you arrive? Be sure to go thru the book and check expiration dates. If most of the ones you%26#39;re interested in have blackout dates (like weekends/holidays) you might be better off nicely asking to receive the 2008 book instead, providing you expect to make a return visit. Or ask for the ';upgrade'; package which basically gets you both for just a slight increase over the annual cost.

Apparently my LVA booklet is being sent in the mail today and I should receive within the next week. I will definitely use the buffet tickets and the mac king coupon (my son likes magic). Wish Elton john was at Caesars palace. boo hoo!! We are arriving Dec. 23.

we just finished using our pov book and i would say that without a car it is just so so because the better casinos and buffets like red rock, gvr and the palms are not within walking distance but with a car (like we always do) it seemed to be well worth it !!! The car idea for us always seems to pay for itself. ps.. don%26#39;t bother ellis island for the steak deal as it is really bad, i mean bad.

BOULDER STATION- We%26#39;ve stayed there numerous times and always enjoyed our stay. Many locals visit this hotel. It%26#39;s clean, rooms aren%26#39;t bad, security before the elevators. Lots of places to eat (good buffet). They even have Kareoke night. It%26#39;s a couple miles from the strip.
