Sante Fe Station for 1 night

I am planning to check out Sante Fe Staation during one evening next week (tues, wed or thurs).

I kind of want to see the area during the day but since it probably gets dark about 5P I%26#39;m guessing, I%26#39;m thinking about spending one night there and heading back downtown the following morning.

Does anyone have an idea of what my chances are for getting a room by just showing up without a reservation. Would it be alot more expensive than prebooking?

Thanks!

Have you checked their web site to see what room rates are for the nights you are thinking about? That%26#39;s where I would start. I really don%26#39;t know of anyone who shows up without a reservation. I know that%26#39;s a European thing, but I personally don%26#39;t know of anyone who does that except maybe on cross country drives.

What is it you want to see in the area? I went to Santa Fe Station in early November at night. It did not look like much around the place, kind of a typical suburban area. It could have been anywhere USA, except for the casino, sand and occasional cactus.

It%26#39;s only a 20 or 30 minute drive non rush hour from downtown and the Strip, so if you have a car it is an easy drive.

I took the freeway out there and drove back on Rancho Drive, which only took a few minutes longer.

Their web site shows rooms for $39.00 a nite for your nights, how much cheaper do you want?

Shrinkgirl wrote one time that one of her kids stayed there one time, and it was nothing fancy but was clean and fine for them.

But I couldn%26#39;t find a slushy there Ducky.

Ha ha....it is close to the downtown area though :)

It%26#39;s probably best that I didn%26#39;t find a slushy til I parked the car for the night back downtown anyway.

That is why downtown is a great place to stay since you can walk around and enjoy your drinks, but the casinos are close enough that you can also find your way back to your room. :)

Thanks for the info. I am aware of the rates, $39 is fine. I am just wondering if it would still be $39 without a reservation?

I%26#39;ll be taking the bus there and I just like to see what there is to see during daylight.

Anyway, I guess I%26#39;ll find out when I get there!

Nobody can predict the rates anywhere since they can change daily (supply and demand)....but always ask if you decide to check the day of a check-in if they have any special rates that day. We are also AAA members so ask if there is a discount, and sometimes Mr. Ducky is old enough now for Senior Discounts (wheee) so check that too if you are 55 or older.

Van Maple,

I am still not understanding your reason for wanting to spend one night at Santa Fe. It seems like it would be a great hassle to check out of your other Vegas hotel and carry your luggage on the bus to Santa Fe Station for one night, especially without a reservation. What if you get out there suitcase in hand and they want $89.00 instead of $39.00.

Obviously you could do it if you want, but it would just seem so much easier to take a bus out there for the day, spend as much time as you want then take a bus back downtown if that%26#39;s where you are staying other nights. I mean it%26#39;s just a casino like the hundred others in Vegas. I didn%26#39;t see anything special there. It was nice, but nothing special.

I don%26#39;t get it, or am I misunderstanding your plan?
