running south on the Strip

I would like to get a quick daily run in while in LV and am wondering how safe and debris-free the section of the strip is south of the casinos for a morning run each day. Will be staying at the MGMGrand. Can anyone advise. Thanks.

sideshow, the strip is a great place to jog if you are early enough. It%26#39;s remarkably empty. You will be able to go south, but may find going up the strip more interesting. You should get out before 8. BTW, are you related to Sideshowbob?

Running south on Las Vegas Blvd. has much less traffic and you can veer off and in certain areas and find some praries in which to run...Yes, the strip is relatively uncongested in the early morning...However, who wants to get up early in Vegas???You can try running around the perimeter of Mandalay Bay a few times, it will add up quickly...

I have seen many runners on the strip in the early am. I think they must be crazy, but I am sure they are not!! Myself I wouldnt do it because well I dont run at home, but early morning seems to be a great time.

Mandalay Bay has a jogging path around part of the property - it is before you go into the pool area (so they won%26#39;t check your keys) if you want to check it out...I am sure if you got there early there wouldn%26#39;t be very many people out - just another option (although you may need multiple loops to get a good run in - it is a pretty path!)

thanks for all the info. I was only thinking about going south of the strip to see something a little different. I know the airport is right there and just didn;t want to try to run through a slum or a multimillion $$ construction project. thanks again!

I%26#39;ve jogged south on Las Vegas Blvd., starting from Mandalay Bay. You pqss Callaway golf course on the right, and until recently the sidewalk kind of ended there at a vacant lot. Now however, I understand that lot is occupied by Town Square, a new multi-use center. So they have probably extended the sidewalk, at least past that property.

On a side note, I%26#39;ve always been surprised at how poorly sidewalks are maintained on Las Vegas Boulevard, especially those stretches that aren%26#39;t in front of casino hotels. I would think that a large percentage of people gambling in a given strip casino have walked there from another hotel. Why make it harder for them to reach you?
