Visiting for First Time

I%26#39;m considering visiting Laughlin for the 1st time on Jan. 2nd - after New Years. This will be the middle of the week. Will the town still be super crowded, or will it be semi-deserted?

Next question - I know gamblers get free drinks. Can I order specific brands of alcohol? For example - If I order a screwdriver made with Ketel One, is that what I will receive?

Thanks in advance.

We will not be super-crowded on Jan 2. Folks will generally be leaving town. We will then enter a period of very low tourism.

By all means, you should request the specific brands you desire. Otherwise you will get their house brands. They will give you exactly what you want. Shucks, we have indoor plumbing and everything up here in Laughlin now.

We hope you have a great visit, leave a few bucks with us, and come back real soon!

Your timing is great. It should be very quiet, and you will have no trouble playing whatever machine or game you want.

As far as getting a premium liquor, you may or may not get what you want. If you play at the bartops and order the Ketel, you can watch and get what you want. Out on the floor, you just never know what vodka the BT will use. They figure most can not tell the difference when mixed with orange juice. Order what you want-- don%26#39;t forget to tip.

One more thought on premium liquor. The brand they will comp will vary according to company policy. I was in Laughlin in May and was talking to a bartender at the Edgewater about which vodkas they would comp. She told be they would comp Absolut, but not Stoli or Ketel One...... that was policy. My last trip two weeks ago, with new owners, they would comp all brands.

I was also talking to a bartender (not Laughlin), and he told me that anyone that ordered a name brand drink out on the floor would not get it.....they would get the ';house'; brand. Again company policy. He said it was rare to get a complaint. ';People can%26#39;t tell the difference with mixed drinks.'; He is probably correct, but it just does not seem right to me.

Just two comments on the above statements regarding my previous response to bbtrumpetmans questions. . If they stock that brand, the bars will provide whatever the customer requests. Casino profits are made at the machines and tables. Not on nickel and diming folks on drinks. And cocktail waitresses make their money on tips by making sure the customer gets what he or she orders. As a Laughlin resident I have discussed this with many, many bartenders and waitresses over the years.
