Another Credit Card Question

Hi,

Me and 5 other friends are looking to book two rooms at the mandalay bay, but the total price for both rooms exceeds her credit limit and was wondering if when we check out could we split the bill between the 6 of us and use our own debit cards to cover the cost?

Thanks very much

Another Credit Card Question

I%26#39;ve tried that with car rental and could not do it. The best thing to do is to email or call MB and ask them, then you%26#39;ll know for sure.

Another Credit Card Question

yep, MB is the place to ask - not here. e-mail them if you don%26#39;t want to make a call. Bottom line is probably no - also keep in mind if the limits are this tight that MB will place a hold on the card at check-in - or ask for cash - check the website for details or ask MB.

Would booking the rooms in 2 different names with 2 different cards help? Doesn%26#39;t anyone in the group have enough credit limit to cover the costs? Also know the amount held/how long it takes for hold to be voided varies between a credit card and debit card, many with debit cards have issues.

talk to MB.

Debit cards are a night mare you can take cash and give that to them at checkin they will require a somthinglike $200 per night per room per night as a deposit towards anything you charge to your room, if you put this on a credit card they ring fence the money and when you check out its refunded straight away, if you do this on a debit card they will take this money out of you acocunt and you will be paid back when yuo leave this is usallya for about 5 days but can take up to 10. Call MB

Incedentally I am interested in what the room arrangmenst will be with 6 people in 2 x rooms ;)

thanks for the advice,

None of us did have a credit card, and one of my friends had one what wasn%26#39;t activated so decided to reactivate it for our holiday.

For the two rooms the total cost comes to about £2,200 ($4,800) but the deposit for one room is only $446, and my friends credit limit is just below the prices for the rooms.

Looking to spend some of the trip in LA as well and the hotel we%26#39;re intereseted in just asks for the credit card to reserve the room, then when we check out can pay by cash or debit/credit card.

Tried to find an email address for MB but haven%26#39;t found one, if anyone knows what it is would be grateful if you pass it along!

Thanks

If you are booking directly with the hotel only the first night for all rooms booked is charged to your credit card at the time of booking. Booking two rooms, two different people can book one of the rooms. When you arrive you can let them know that a different person will be paying for each night.

Just curious, but how many nights are you staying? The $446. deposit seems a bit high for one room, one night. Are the rooms suites? Is it a high convention visit week. Just seems a bit high in cost.

MB website.is:

www.mandalaybay.com

There is a non toll free phone number listed on their site, so you can call them direct, or email.

Yes you can pay cash at check out or give them a stack when you check in, they dont like it but they may if it brings her below the creidt limit. The oter way you coudl do it is to pay sterling into her credit card before you leave say you pay £2k between you and her limit is £2k then thsi will give you an allowance of £4k.

To be honest though I think you are nuts I pay me credit card in full each month but you need one in the states, I am assuming you are renting a car you need a credit card as a deposit on that they will not take cash or debit cards. If you ar renting a car you need to think how much will be taken as a deposit on top of what Mandalay Bay do.

If you have problems with credit go to capital one they have a card with and extorinate rate that they give to anyone, get one use it for your deposits and then cut it up when you get back.

Why not book one room on one card and the other on anopther card?

The other choice would be to pre-pay the rooms with cash now. You will still have the rooms charged to the credit card, but only for security for the amounts greater than the cash deposit.

Of course, there%26#39;%26#39;s also the option of a less expensive hotel......

Thanks for the tips and advice,

SWE why are we crazy??

We will be booking two 750 rooms at MB thats why they are quite expensive.

We won%26#39;t be using a car.

What we%26#39;ll prob end up doing is just pay onto the credit card account itself.

Thanks for the patience its much appreciated. None of us have a credit card at all, didnt really see the point for one untill now! And all in our early 20%26#39;s so never really needed one.

Spending $4800 on rooms and no one has a credit card. WOW!
