You get on the plane, take your seat, they close the door, take off, fly through the air, 12-14 hours later you land. In between the flight attendants serve food and drinks. You%26#39;ll get to watch a movie or two. Bring along a book. One of those blow up neck pillows will make your flight more comfortable. At certain times during the flight you may run into turbulunce (rough air) the plane may bounce a little. Nothing at all to worry about.

Sorry, I%26#39;m not a UK person, but I%26#39;ve played one on TV.

Thanks for the note .....really didnt know they serve food!?!?!?

You may have to purchase the food these days. I personally have not flown Virgin, my in-laws have and loved it. My father-in-law proposed to the woman that gave him his inflight massage. Similar proposal that Robert Redford made to Demi Moore, but a few 0%26#39;s (5 to be exact) were missing off the amount.

From Virgin Atlantic%26#39;s website.

';There is such a thing as a free lunch; we offer a free meal and free drinks on all our flights. You can forget the usual jokes about airline food, ours is delicious and with enough notice we can even tailor our catering for some specific dietary requirements that you may have i.e.

- Kosher

- Vegetarian

- Gluten-free

- Medical Meals. These need to be booked through Special Assistance. ';

With every seat having it%26#39;s own TV, the number of movies watched could be more like 6 or 7.

Hi

Flying to LV it will be daylight the whole way, if you have clear skys you will be able to see Iceland, greenland and Canada. You should get one full meal and a smaller snack before you land. Plus nibbles before dinner and at least 2-3 drink service and you can always get more drinks if you need them.

If you are getting a late afternoon/evening flight home you will be in darkness nearly all the time which is a great help to trying to sleep, which if you can is a real help adjusting to the time back here in the UK. You should get a blanket, pillow and headphones plus some airlines give a few extra%26#39;s maybe socks and eyeshields but they are cutting back on the freebies thesedays. My son%26#39;s flew with Virgin in 2000 and were given travel bags pens toothbrushes and all sorts of goodies but they may have got alot tighter.

The flight is actually 10 hrs 45 mins...but usually gets in 15 mins or so earlier than scheduled. Virgin direct is the best way to get to vegas for Londoners and others living in the south-east.

The drinks are freeflowing....the food reasonable and the staff are almost always as cheerful as the passengers..as they get a 3 night layover in Vegas.

If you are in economy....its less aweful than most other airline option to get to Vegas...and given where you are travelling to...the minor pain is worth it...Virgin do try hard to make a 10hr flight as painless as it can possibly be though.

If you are flying PE...its great having the extra legroom, roomier seats, quieter cabin and dedicated staff upstairs....there are a couple of rows of PE downstairs...they are aweful seats..change if you can...

If you are flying UC....lucky you...have the hostie make up your bed, hop in, pull up your duvet....order a snack and a glass of bubbles, relax and enjoy the ride.

As far as being a nervous flyer....here is some advice I offered to another nervous flyer who posted not long ago.

OK...

The plane MIGHT crash....and you MIGHT plummet to your death....or you MIGHT get caught in an aeronautical fire ball....or you MIGHT fly into the side of a mountain and be killed on impact.....

BUT.....we both know this isnt going to happen.......

The truth is .....according to all the statistics.....you WILL arrive in Las Vegas on that plane SAFE...in ONE piece....and have a wonderful holiday.

Dont take drugs, dont drink yourself into a stupor...

just .....SUCK IT UP......and take the ride knowing that FLYING is one of the SAFEST ways to travel....

You have MORE chance of being killed in a car smash on the way to the airport...

SO...if you make it to the airport ALIVE....I bet you your whole bankroll you will make it to Vegas ALIVE on that aeroplane.

Dont worry about things you have no control over...rest assured in the knowledge that the pilot has it all under control...he really does.

I too am a nervous flyer, but have done this flight with virgin a few times and it really isn%26#39;t that bad. there are other flight to vegas which are worse

the food, drink etc help pass the time and lots of film options to keep you busy.

However my biggest tip is to watch the fear of flying video. I found it really really helpful and has actually helped with my fear. It talks you through evrything that is going to happen, what the noises are and how things on the plane work.

there is also some really good relaxation channels on the radio as well which help to calm you down.

hope this helps.

Virgin has good points and bad points

Good

direct

entertainment best in the sky

food very good

free booze

Bad

Been late a lot recently

very small pitch

Big planes so can take a bit of time to clear customs.

The best way for people in the SOuth to fly to Vega is not Virgin its MaxJet by far

We take the children to Florida on a yearly basis and always fly with Virgin.

This time however its just me and DH off to vegas and for some reason (i really don%26#39;t know why) we are flying with North West from Gatwick - anyone know what these flights are like ?????????? x
