drinkin on the streets

hello. i know you can drink alcohol while walking around on the street, but i am going to be with someone underage. yes i know not a good place for underagers, but its a free company trip so i dont care. im wondering if i purchase alcohol (im 21) for my friend, will he be able to drink on the streets while just walking around? ive been to vegas a few times and dont recall being carded just walking the streets...just in the casinos and bars. also, if i buy him a drink while were lounging by the pool, is it likely he will get carded while were just laying there? thanks!

You have started a thread where others will judge your moral character. I suppose there is a likely hood he could get carded in Vegas just like anywhere else. He could get carded if he has alcohol or an open container on the street. It probably could depend on how old he looks and how old he acts. Good luck. If you get busted buying alcohol for a minor your trip would suck.

Just a quick question from me since you don%26#39;t bring it up in your post. You seem more concerned about if your friend can drink or not. Do you realize that you are actually going to be breaking the law by providing/purchasing alcohol for a minor.

how old is the underage?

he is 19, but he could easily pass for 25. but yeah, not near 21 at all. :(

and yes im aware that its breaking the law. ease up people. you dont HAVE to give advice, im mearly looking for advice from those nice enough not to judge me or whatever. so thanks to those who will help me out.

Unfortunately some people have nothing better to do than judge others. Most would do better with taking a look at themselves and fixing their own imperfections.

I personally wouldn%26#39;t do it. Might suck for your friend but fact is your trip could really suck if you got caught.

Another thing to think about is they may want to see his liscense at check in and it is even possible he would get carded on a casino floor (if you plan to be on any) as under 21 are not permitted to even go on the floor.

When I grew up legal drinking age was 19 and I turned out just fine and have no problem with it but I think you may run into major problems a long way from home if you chance it. Might not be worth it but up to you really.

All I will say is that a couple of trips ago, we where walking back to Paris from Bellagio (down the driveway to the street) and crossed over to the Aladdin (ph) to head up to Paris and there were 4 cops standing there pulling aside anyone they saw with an open container that they could identify as alcohol (i.e. beer cans/bottles) and anyone who appeared very very drunk and where checking id%26#39;s and issuing citations for being drunk in public. So, if your friend is willing to chance it, then I say go ahead. 21 as the legal drinking age is a joke anyway. If you can go to war and get killed at 18, then you should be able to have a beer too dammit!

my 2 cents...LOL!

“You%26#39;ve got to ask yourself one question: %26#39;Do I feel lucky?%26#39; Well, do ya punk?”

That is such an odd question. He won%26#39;t be able to legally drink on the streets, or just sitting by the pool. He might not get carded. But, if you get carded, and buy a drink, they will surely be on the lookout for what is going on with you (a drinker) and your underage friend.

So, legally no, but just like anywhere, you can take the risk and see what happens. But, if they know you bought a minor alcohol, you could be in some trouble. Plus, how will you be able to order two drinks?

You say you ';i dont care';. I do not believe you. If you don%26#39;t care, why are you posting the question. If you do not care just do what you are going to do regardless.

You want people to tell you what your chances are of getting caught doing something illegal. If you are that worried about it, maybe you shouldn’t do it.

Other peoples experience in the past with this activity is no predictor of what might happen to you.

You could go the entire trip never see a police officer. Or, one may witness you handing off the drink to your under-age companion and card you both. If you decide to do it, are you prepared for the consequences if you get caught? Also, you mention that this is a work related trip. If you get caught, will this have any consequences for your job?

Is it really worth the hassle?

Correction here, drinking in public, on the street, is illegal in LV. It is tolerated by the police, but they do use the law with prejudice to keep vagrants, bums, trouble makers and such off the streets. So if you are seen drinking in public, and the cop doesn’t like your looks, he/she has every legal right to arrest you on the spot.
