Changes in Vegas since you have been going?

I was just wondered what changes others have experienced since going to Vegas.

I have only been going since 2000 and the biggest change for me was the elimination of most coin slots machines to ticket only.

I remember how much fun it was to plunk your coins in the slot machines. I loved the sound of the coins dropping into the tray.

I remember everyone carrying around buckets of coins and cashing them in at the cashiers desk. The sound of coins throughout the casino is something I do miss. Also your hands would be filthy after playing all day. (don鈥檛 miss)

In the beginning I hated the tickets, but now I prefer them.

That and the number of penny / nickel slots around, even in the higher end casinos. I%26#39;m not a Slot machine player at all and I would only play the quarter slots, if at all. Now, I%26#39;m more inclined to jump on a penny slot and play for a while...

Changes in Vegas since you have been going?

It was the gambling meca, then became more ';family'; friendly, and now it appears the themes are going bye-bye and moving to a more sophisticated (and higher dollar) style...at least for those establishments on the strip itself.

When I first went there was no

Mandaly Bay

Luxor

Monte Carlo

Paris

Bellagio

PH

Wynn

TI

Fashion Show Mall

Ventian

Now there are more poker rooms and less free stuff

far more women particaully young women inVegas now

Buffets were cheap and bad now they are expensive and good

I used to love the ';Flip-It'; machines. They were about the size of a jukebox and had a couple of slots in the front. When you dropped a quarter in, the quarter would hit a spinning paddle and fly onto a series of moving shelves inside the machine, and if it knocked any quarters off in the process they would fall out the payout slot at the bottom. There were also some bonus targets at the back of the shelves with guaranteed payout amounts.

Boardwalk used to have a few of these machines. Seems like they were most popular in the low-end casinos.

You still see them in token arcades for kids, but they pay out in tickets instead of tokens or quarters.

The death of

The Dunes,

The Show Boat,

The Frontier (New Frontier),

Westward Ho,

Sands,

Landmark,

Thunderbird,

Sliver Slipper,

Vegas World,

Silver City,

Castaways,

Lady Luck

The introduction of the Mega resort has happened in my time.

I am sure there are more but those are off the top of my head.

Of course, how could I forget the Boardwalk and their .49 cent chicken dinner.

Add the Stardust to the list of those to be mourned.

Same as Shrinky for me. Did you mention the Hacienda Shrinky?

I%26#39;m with Shrink and Doc. How about the old Alladin and original MGM?
