Share your money $$aving strategy for Vegas trips

I am talking to the other average ';blue collar'; folks out there. If you are the type that has an endless stash of disposable cash (bless your little hearts) you needn%26#39;t respond.

Me. I am a bartender/server. Go to Vegas twice a year. Three months before a trip I save all my quarters, and I tell ya what- they add up! $500 worth in one coffee can.

I also do not go to my local casinos for a couple months before a trip. This allows me to pre-pay my bills for the month of my trip. In that way- everything I earn that month can go with me to Vegas.

My trips are once in the early summer and then in the fall. If I should happen to hit a good win at my local casino during the year ( which I usually do a few times) I will book my next upcoming trip and pay for it on the spot. Then I don%26#39;t have to worry about it. Rooms are comped.

That%26#39;s my silly little strategy! I am not a high roller by any means. I like to have about 2 grand for a three night trip, and by following these guidelines- I usually do!

Anyone else want to share?

Is that 2 grand just for gambling while in Vegas or does it also include meals, shows and/or shopping?

I used to do a volunteer job, but one where I got some expenses paid. By the time I%26#39;d get the check in the mail, I%26#39;d already paid bills to cover those expenses, so that check when it finally came went into my %26#39;stash!%26#39; (Vegas money!) Also, anything I would win goes into that stash and slowly over the years it got built up to quite a nice one! I always have the %26#39;stash%26#39; and never ever touch it for anything else!

I don%26#39;t do shows and shopping. That is pretty much all drinking and gambling money, and a little food here and there.

#1 relax take your time, spend more time with DH%26lt;DW looking at hotels, attractions, people, lounge bands, shows,

#2 make $10 sports bet and watch game, put a dollar in and try a few new one cent slots

set day limit , if your buy in is gone from bj table, or any game walk away, dont buy in at craps table, go to coffee shop or ideas on #1

I find the best room deal at the time I book our air, and then I watch the Fat Wallet site for specials and hope I can get an even better deal...or also hope one of the casinos mails something special to me. The more I save on air and hotel, the more spending money I have the way I look at it.

Im fortunate enough to go to Vegas a few times a year...the funding to go is provided by my husband so I%26#39;m very fortunate....and what I can set aside from my housekeeping money makes up my ';secret stash';.

The problem I seem to have, and it%26#39;s not getting the money together to go....but making it last once I get there!!!

I have spent my whole budget on day 1...that was my 1st trip.

I have spent half my weeks budget on the 1st day....that was my 1st solo trip.

Now I%26#39;m trying hard to be disciplined...getting through that exciting first day and not going over budget still proves harder to do than it should, but now I try to put some measures in place to control the haemmoraging(i%26#39;m sure ithat is spelt wrong).

1. Upon arrival...shower, unpack and have a rest in the room for at least half an hour before going down to the casino.

2. Don%26#39;t have too many Jack-n-coke on the 1st night.

3. DO NOT take my whole bankroll to the casino at any 1 time.

4. If I double up...cash out...pocket the winnings and start again.

5. Have a walk around...dont plonk down at the 1st slot that gives me the ';eye';...

So those are a few of my rules .... I MEAN to follow them...I really do...and I swear I will remember them on my next trip...and follow them...to the best of my ability, given all the temptations.

shirl%26#39;

You can find half full drinks just sitting next to empty slots!..If you hang out in back of the casino...lots of food in the dumpsters..barely touched from the buffets. Always look down while walking through the casino..you may find a quarter or a chip!...No seriously...there are many bargains to be had on food..and plenty of sights to see..If you walk it is really cheap to be a tourist. You do not have to be a hight roller to go to vegas...but it is fun once in a while! Slotto

Dont sit down to play at table games when you%26#39;re drunk and have a pocket full of cash.

Don%26#39;t go into strip clubs with Credit cards or ATM cards in your possession.

I save all my change for vegas!! Take my Hinkley and Schmidt water jug to the bank and cash it in for travelers checks and that is my gambling money. I pre pay for my flight and room and slap my food on a credit card that I have paid off just for the occasion...

When we first get to the hotel we take a nap, freshen up and then get some food in us. Then its off to the slots. We only take 3 travelers checks a night to the casino with us (actually I sneek one additional one in my BACK pocket) Hey, I have been the one schlepping drinks all year to pay for this schindig, if I am having a really crappy night I might just spend it! Gambling cash in right front pocket, winning cash or TITO thingy in my left, tip money for drinks in in my ciggy pack (which I have to refigure cause I quit smoking). We really enjoy going from Casino to casino and checking things out. I love to gamble at the Venetian as I usually have very good luck there. If our luck isn%26#39;t hitting anywhere and if we are not completely blotto we will spend a few hours gambling in our base hotel....then stumble to our rooms were I try to sober up and hide any money that I won.

My tip- BUDGET your money daily. Don%26#39;t spend it all in the first day. Don%26#39;t be afraid to try that late night coffee shop or that Elis Island steak special. I get most of my tacky souvineers from the shop at the top of the Stratosphere...very good deals up there. Don%26#39;t purchase things from the Harley Davidson Store at the Convention Center....way upcharged!!! Go see the Sights before you get drunk!! Don%26#39;t even talk to the guy that tries to sell you that $600 ring for $100 by the luxor....(we didn%26#39;t buy it but knew the guy that did....he told us the next day it was a fake)

if your not a high Better ,Your $2000 should be Good enough. .Drinks are free. And your $2000 should get you some kind of Comps And if you read some posts ,,Your $2000 will get you many a comp.NOW this depends ON where you are staying. The MGM card seems to have the best and easiest comp system In all of Vegas.

And Play Where You Stay

Is The Magic RULE

Don%26#39;t play rapid roulette when you are drunk and waiting for your wife to finish playing slots.
