Woo hoo! So I have confirmed my hotel and airfare and now I am working on my plan of having a one day trip outside of vegas to the hoover dam and something else...
My plan is to rent a car, and then visit the hoover dam and then the Red Rock Canyon or Valley of Fire State Park.
Which would be best, and can both trips be done in a day?
I plan on renting the car early in the morning and then returning it that evening.
Best road trip from vegas!
make sure if you are returning your car on the strip that you know when the rental desk closes. Many of the hotel locations close at 5.
You can definitely do the Hoover Dam and Red Rock in one day.
Best road trip from vegas!
thank you! :)
I am going to see if I can find one that is super duper early opening cause I really don%26#39;t want to pay for parking if possible.
Now this suggestion is presuming that you will not be doing any extensive hiking. I would do Valley of Fire first thing in the morning. Then I would double back to the interstate and head to Red Rock Canyon and then do the Red Rock Casino buffet for a late lunch and quick gambling fix. I would leave Hoover Dam for last since you don%26#39;t know how congested it will be. You can do it, but you%26#39;re looking at taking most of the day.
The other option is doing Hoover Dam first, before the tour buses arrive and then head over to VOF and leave RRC for last.
Where in Vegas does one pay for parking?
Btw the rental is per 24 hrs so keep the car overnight instead of rushing things on your road trip day.
While visiting Hoover dam you are bound to be stuck in traffic which may last longer than your actual visit unless you want to take a tour there.
Ditto Hiker....no Ducky for Thanksgiving/just turkeys!!!
I am not planning on doing any hiking. I just want to take a lot of nice photos. I will take a bag lunch if possible....listen to the radio, and just enjoy the scenery. I was thinking of doing hoover dam first, and then red rock or valley of fire.
Oh gaby....I was referring to the reply from Hitch Hiker (I call him Hiker) LOL
topping :)
no offense but maybe you should spend the money rening a car on other things in Vegas.....
I have wanted to visit hoover dam for a while and do the road trip thing, so I think it would be a nice thing to do. Since a rental car (plus insurance) will be only about $50, and the hoover dam tour ticket under $20, it seems like a good deal, I think. :)
