Relaxing Week By the Pool ?

Having enjoyed Vegas so much this year we%26#39;re looking to book a late summer holiday next year - probably mid September. Therefore I have three questions :

1) How hot is it likely to be during the 3rd week of September - what was it like this year ?

2) Which hotel on the Strip has the best pool area - best availability of loungers %26amp; umbrellas, etc - and which would you reccommend for a relaxing week by the pool ?

3) If I book so far in advance directly on the hotel website are there any advantages / drawbacks I need to be aware of ?

Relaxing Week By the Pool ?

1) No two years are the same once you get away from the really hot summer months but you can expect temps in the mid to high 80s, maybe low 90s in some years.

2) Impossible to recommend without knowing your approximate budget. Several hotels have great pool areas from Bellagio and Caesars (top end) thru to Tropicana (budget).

3) Nothing but advantages by booking directly. Rates will probably come down closer to your trip but you can just call the hotel and get your rates lowered. You can%26#39;t do this if you don%26#39;t book direct.

Relaxing Week By the Pool ?

1. This page will give you the day by day average for September.

2. Best pool area is a matter of opinion and there are several articles and discussion on the subject. Doesn%26#39;t sound like you want an area with a lazy river and water falls, right? A basic pool area with loungers? Something more kind of vanilla, a place to relax, rather than something with a ';happening'; scene? If so, maybe Paris? I have not been to the pool in September, but was able to relax in the hot tub earlier this month and booked another trip for April to do just that -relax. Others may have better suggestions. If you click on my name and look at my photos, you will see a photo of the pool at Paris. Nothing exciting, but that is OK by me :)

3. No draw backs that I know of in booking now directly with the hotel. If anything, if the price goes down, cancel and rebook. Youl would not be able to do that booking through a 3rd party.

What it was like this year really will not be a help to you. What it is like one year has nothing to do with what it is like any other year. The average high-low 90s but the highs can range from the high 60s to over 100. Chances are you will have nice sunny weather the whole time you are there.

There are no disadvantages booking early with the hotel directly. You can contact them if the rates drop or cancel (within the cancellation period-check) and book at another hotel if you find something you like more.

Think about what you%26#39;re asking regarding the pool. The nicer the pool is, the more crowded it%26#39;s going to be, yeh? Regardless of which resort you choose, if you want to spend time at the pool, plan to get there early. You should find temps in the 90s so September is definitely pool weather. You should know that there are no umbrellas at Vegas pools - there is very little shade at all to be had unless you rent a cabana.

Which pool to choose depends on what your priorities are. It doesn%26#39;t sound like you%26#39;re looking for a meat market-type party scene, so rule out Flamingo, Tropicana, and Hard Rock. If you don%26#39;t mind a lot of kids running around, Mandalay Bay and MGM have huge pool complexes. If you want a European adults only pool, Mirage, MB, Flamingo, Caesar%26#39;s, Wynn all offer this. If you like a tropical style atmosphere with waterfalls and such, Mirage, Rio, and Flamingo all qualify. If you want a pool that%26#39;s deep enough to actually swim in, consider Bally%26#39;s. If you like elegance, Caesar%26#39;s and Bellagio are the obvious choices.

You can find out more about the various hotel pools here:

and here:

Wynn pool is very nice and relaxing atmosphere.

Caesars has 4 pools to choose from which is very nice and a tropical look and very relaxing.

Flamingo%26#39;s has one of the best pool in Vegas.

Paris has a nice simple pool.

The weather does vary, but overall it should be warm and nice pool weather.

The advantage of booking directly and ahead is if the price goes down you can take advantage of the lower price by just calling and telling them the rate dropped.

How hot?

Coming from Wales you are going to think it is warm, even if it is below normal for Vegas, so you%26#39;ll be fine.

Best Pool-

You aren%26#39;t asking about

biggest (Mandalay Bay)

Most activities (Mandalay Bay, MGM)

Most decadent (Caesar%26#39;s, Bellagio)

Best ';Scene'; (Hard Rock, Palms)

Your asking for relaxing, with good availability on chairs, etc.

For me this only means one thing- Four Seasons. The pool here is not large, but it is big enough. The relaxation, pampering, and lack of crowds will not be found anywhere else in Vegas. Having to worry about getting to the pool early to find a chair is not relaxing, having the pool attendants ask you where you would like to sit, then escorting you, covering the teak lounge with a terry cloth cover, setting out your towel, bringing you a pitcher of iced water with lemon is relaxing. So are all of the amenities they bring by on a regular basis like chilled minted face towels, or frozien grapes.

Vegas is Vegas, which means crowds, crowds aren%26#39;t relaxing, so to relax in Vegas you don%26#39;t want big, or flashy, or even ';great deal'; all of these mean crowds........try Four Seasons you won%26#39;t be disappointed.

I wouldn`t recommend Caesar`s pool area at the moment. Don`t get me wrong - I love Caesar`s and have been there many times. But this year they were down to three pools (one of which cost extra to use) and they often closed them at 5pm for ';functions';. Also, next year will be worse as the new tower is bsing built.

Everyone has given great advice. Where did you stay this year when you went?

When we%26#39;ve gone in Sept. it has been fantastic weather - of course, as others have posted - it has nothing to do with what it will be like when you%26#39;re there.

If the majority of your stay is during the week, kids shouldn%26#39;t be too much of a problem since most schools are back in session by mid Sept.

If you tell us what you%26#39;re looking for in a hotel(overall scene, $ etc.), we can narrow down by the hotel AND pool area that you%26#39;re looking for.

No disadvantages in booking directly! Just check back periodically and see if rates have dropped - if they have, contact the hotel and they will adjust the rates for you.

What%26#39;s your budget? Does no good to recommend Wynn, Bellagio and Caesar%26#39;s if your wallet only allows Trop and Flamingo. Both of which have great pools. Septmember does vary in temperature. But whether the weather is 80 degrees or 105 it%26#39;s still a good day to be by the pool. Book as soon as possible, if the rates drop, cancel and re-book. If the rates go up, smil knowing you got the best possible deal.
