Theatre at the Venitian & Stratosphere Restaurant

Going to Las Vegas on Wednesday and am so excited. We%26#39;re really hoping to go to see Phantom of the Opera during our stay and as the ticket prices vary so much depending upon which part of the theatre you%26#39;re in, I wondered if it%26#39;s really worth paying for the top price tickets. Some theatres have pretty good seats all round so maybe we won%26#39;t need to pay top rate for a good view.

If you%26#39;ve been to this theatre I would really appreciate your thoughts.

Can%26#39;t wait for Wednesday!!!!! Us four ladies will have a ball !!!!

One more thing, is the Stratosphere restaurant the best place for views of the strip whilst dining, what%26#39;s the food like and how far in advance do you need to book for a window table?

PLEASE reply.

Here%26#39;s my take on Vegas restaurants with a view:

You%26#39;ll pay dearly for any restaurant with a view in Vegas. If you order wine and/or lots of other drinks your budget could get blown out of the water.

The choices are:

Top Of The World (Stratosphere) - Overpriced food. You really do pay for the view here. Better value for lunch but much inferior view in daylight.

Eiffel Tower (Paris) - Ditto.

Mix (THEhotel) - A big step up in quality but more expensive.

Alize (Palms) - A real top quality restaurant that%26#39;s up there with the best French in town. Very expensive.

VooDoo Steak (Rio) - has reinvented itself from previous existence as VooDoo Cafe. Possibly the best value for money option.

In addition to these you%26#39;ll find cheaper alternatives with lesser views at Range Steakhouse at Harrah%26#39;s and Ranch Steakhouse at Binion%26#39;s (Downtown).

Havn%26#39;t seen Phantom in Vegas so can%26#39;t help you with your theater questions.

I thought the food was good, not great, and a bit overpriced. I guess you could argue that you%26#39;re paying for the view.

The view is extraordinary. Keep in mind that the restaurant%26#39;s seating area rotates 360 degrees. So you will only only see the strip for a portion of your dining experience. Of course this ensures that all window seats (and even those not on the window) get views of the strip.

I haven%26#39;t been to the theater you%26#39;re speaking about. In general, in my experience, if you%26#39;re at a theater that has seating in the round (meaning the stage is in the center), most seats if not all will be great. Have a great trip!

I havn%26#39;t seen the show but I know that Phantom has regular seating, not ';in the round';.

I have eaten at the TOW and Eiffel Tower and I honestly feel they are not t worth the the money you will spend on dinner. The food was just o.k. at best. The views were great but when I go out to eat at a ';special'; rastaurant I want great food not just o.k. food- I don%26#39;t care how wonderful the view is. I suggest you go up to the lounge for drinks and then eat elsewhere. Or go to the Voodoo lounge for the view (I have never eaten at the restaurant there).

Alize is an excellent suggestion. It has a geat view- and great food. http://andrelv.com/alize/

I just came back from seeing Phantom at the Venetian.

All the seats are good at the theatre. I%26#39;m short and prefer to sit in the front row though because I like to see all the little costume and facial details.

I%26#39;d skip the Gold Circle seating and get Orchestra seats in one of the side aisles. You%26#39;ll save and the seats are great. I had those seats for four shows and it was perfect.

If you go to TravelZoo.com you%26#39;ll find a code for $40 orchestra seats if you book by Nov 30.

If you%26#39;d like to sit under the chandelier when it falls, then you will need Gold Circle seats in row P or a few rows in front or behind P(it%26#39;s a huge chandelier).

If you%26#39;d like to splurge, they have a VIP package for $250 where you get Gold Circle seating, a program and backstage tour. We did that and it was awesome. We got to learn all about how the show works. We even got to go to visit the %26#39;Phantom%26#39; while he was getting his makeup off.

Or just hang out in the lobby after the show and you%26#39;ll likely catch some of the cast.

Hope you get to go to Phantom. Where ever you sit, you%26#39;ll enjoy it! Great cast!

Many thanks for all your replies and helpful advice.

We will certainly be going to see Phantom. I have seen it before but at Manchester Opera House , about 13 years ago, so I think it will seem like an entirely different show in the Venetian - very posh indeed!!!!

Hello holilyday

Just thought I%26#39;d mention that I booked Phantom tickets this weekend and I used the promotional code mentioned by another poster. When you fill in all your details, you only get the option to choose Canada or USA as your country, and you have to enter a state. I put all the right address (in the UK) but then put a state and USA and it seemed to work. I asked for emailed tickets, and I%26#39;ve received them so it seems ok.

Hope this helps.

Just be aware if you%26#39;ve already seen Phantom before, that the Venetian production is a ';shortened'; version- so you, unlike others who have never seen the full version , may be aware of the difference.

Here%26#39;s one more tip. If you can book over the phone, it%26#39;s better than booking online. You can get better seats by calling. The computer showed me that the best available was six rows back. When I called, I was able to get the front row.
