Thanksgiving week Trip Report almost Profitable

I left NY last monday morning 11/19, and it was raining and freezing, not a good start. Arrived at the airport and found it to be pretty empty. Checked-in, shuttled over to the gate, got on board and WHAT??? The plane is only half full, there were about 10 of us from row 17 on. It was great, had the whole row to lie down and only 1 guy behind me. Flight started out pretty good, push back right on time and take-off, but got somehwhat bumpy about an hour later and lasted about 1/2 hour. Not bad. Other than that, flight was good and uneventful.

Arrived in LV around 9:15 a.m., got on the shuttle to Bally%26#39;s and they let me check in. I did not try the $20 trick, I figured I would take what they gave me. I was not paying for the room anyway, so I just assumed I wopuld be put in the south tower. Nope, to my surprise he gave me room 2554 in the north tower. It was a nice sized room, bed and pillows surprisingly comfortable, hot water, the only problem - shower had no real pressure. It took quite awhile to get shampoo out of hair and I have short hair.

Also was given a sheet of coupons upon check-in: $5 off buffets at: Rio, Flamingo, CP and Harrah%26#39;s, free t-shirt offer at Harrah%26#39;s and Flamingo, discount tickets to Producers and stuff like that. I qualified for the free t-shirt at Flamingo, but guess what? You%26#39;re right, they only had 1 size (small) and they were cheap as $2 hooker. So, no thanks. Am I surprised. No it was to be expected.

Unpacked and left to do some shopping, gambling, drinking etc.

Went and picked up some bottled water (cannot bring myself to drink out of the glasses after reading what was posted here recently).

First day of gambling: started off in Bally%26#39;s - nothing and nothing. could not even get a drink. Walked over to Paris, did a little better there and had a couple of drinks.

Went ot Mirage to listen to some Beatles music while I played and came up about $100 to the good. Cocktail service much better here than Bally%26#39;s. Stayed in Mirage an hour or so, went to TI wound up losing $20. Waked back to Bally%26#39;s, sat at the bar to play vp and get a drink and people watch. No luck on the vp, but at least had a few bloody mary%26#39;s. Grabbed a sandwich and headed to my room. By now I was totally wiped out having been up now around 20 hours.

Tuesday, took advantage of the $5 off coupon and headed to Flamingo for breakfast. Arrived at 7:15 - no line - no waiting, seated immediately. Went to get some food and there is absolutely no variety and what they did have was awful. The eggs were cold and full of water, bacon so hard it could hardly be bitten, biscuits and gravy? there were biscuits but stale with cold gravy. You get the picture. Now I know why there was no waiting to get in. I used to stay at Flamingo at lot when It was a Hilton chain and the buffet was actaully pretty good. Lines would be long, but since Harrah;s taken over, pretty much down the dumps.

On the way out, I decided to give lady luck a shot. Played a couple of different machines and breaking even. Was ready to walk out and saw a penny machine called ';3x blazing sevens'; ( I think) decided to throw $20 in and see what happens. Second spin the machine started paying and paying. It finally stopped at $224.00. I don%26#39;t even know what the hell I hit. It had 3x, 2x, some 7%26#39;s. Very weird, but I was a happy camper. Took my money and skedaddled out of there. It was time for my daily walk. So I just walked up and down the strip for about 2 hours.

Back to Bally%26#39;s and again - no cocktail service, so off to Paris. Won a decent amount, around $75 ahead after being there for quite awhile. Too bad I%26#39;m so old and feeble I can%26#39;t remember which machines paid off and which didn%26#39;t. Oh well the price of aging.

Back to the room to freshen up and rest for the upcoming night.

Tried the rapid roulette at Bally%26#39;s, wasn%26#39;t too crowded and HAD COCKTAIL SERVICE. Had a great time and won $$$.

Wed. moved out of Bally%26#39;s after using the $5 couppn at CP for breakfast (see a theme here - big breakfast, which is my fuel for the day, and very little lunch or supper) Same problem with the food - cold overcooked and just nasty. Plus you don;%26#39;t pay as you go in, they come around while you are choking down your food to be paid, Strange.

People watching so far (till wednesday a.m.)

**walking down the strip were the usual assortment of guys handing out ';escort'; cards. Came upon an elderly gentlemen (had to be 85 if he was a day) asking the guys how long it would take to get the fgirl to his room

**while having breakfast at the Flamingo, there was a couple sitting across from me who were just about done when I arrived. The woman started shoving fruit into here very oversized purse. I mean she had banana%26#39;s apples, oranges. It was a hoot. Her husband puts $2 on the table for a tip and they leave. Within a second, she%26#39;s back and takes $1 off the table and puts it in her pocket.

**Coming back into Bally%26#39;s tuesday night, I%26#39;m on the people mover and there is a young couple in front of me dress to the nines. She had a beatiful dress, hair done up, wearing lots of glittering jewelry - he dress very fine in a suit and tie. Looked classy and then I looked down - she had no shoes on. Feet were black and her stockings had holes and runs!!! unbelievable.

I know this is very long, but will continue with Wynn another time, as I have to go now.
